In Latin America, where leaders are debating new laws modelled upon the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the shift toward data privacy is igniting new compliance concerns. Globally, increased attention from legislators, media and consumers is amplifying the public scrutiny of security and escalating geopolitical tensions in 2019 saw 5G supply chain resilience come to the fore.
Mobile network operators face an ongoing challenge to provide users with a safe and secure mobile experience, while meeting their obligations to protect public safety. As ever more advanced and complex services are developed, the attack surface increases – and correspondingly, the scope for harm. Use of promising new architectures and features such as network slicing, virtualisation and cloud will introduce new threats that require new types of controls to be implemented. This session will demonstrate the ways in which the region’s mobile industry is taking address privacy and security seriously.
